2023 COMPLETION REPORTS

  1. January 3,2023, Lee Ave, VB.79 year old disabled widow requested assistance with possible rat infestation. Volunteers cleaned out the suspected entry point under the kitchen sink and sealed the area with plywood. Cost: 0.
  1. January 3, 2023, Detroiter Drive, VB (MH). An elderly lady living alone requested assistance a burst water line.  Volunteers replaced the split section of the water line restoring water to the residence.  Cost: $20
  1. January 8, 2023, Aubrey Court, VB. A single woman living with her adult son requested assistance in repairing leaking kitchen sink.  Volunteers installed new sink drain.  Cost: $20.
  1. January 11, 2023, Banyan Drive, VB. A disabled lady living alone requested assistance a failed HVAC system.  Volunteers delivered portable heating units to keep the home warm during the winter months.  Cost: $220
  1. January 12, 2023. Harrier St, VB.A 71 year old lady, a repeat client, requested assistance with a failed HVAC system. Our HVAC contractor corrected the problem by replacing the dead batteries in her thermostat. Cost: $80.
  1. January 13, 2023, Gauntlet Dr. CH. Single lady (39), her two children (9 and 11) and her brother (42). Our plumber replaced the toilet flange that held the toilet down and replaced the tub faucet. Cost $425.
  1. January 14, 2023, Whitestone Ave. A widow (74) who has had both legs amputated, living alone in a small home.  FWC volunteers replaced the deck in the back of the home.  Cost $982.
  1. January 16, 2023, Keith Ct. Father (48) with back problems and son (21) living in an older home.  The water heater was leaking.  We purchased a new water heater and his neighbor, who is a plumber, installed it. Cost $528.
  1. January 19, 2023, Burlington Drive, VB.A former client, an 80 year old lady living in a multigenerational household, requested assistance with a kitchen sink that would not drain. Our plumber was able to clear the drain by running a snake through the roof vent. Cost: $240.
  1. January 21, 2023, Armentrout Ct. CH   A single lady (58) and daughter (16) living in a home built by Habitat.  A FWC volunteer sealed the windows from drafts and installed a new weather strip on the garage door. Cost: $38.
  1. January 21, 2023, Sparrow Rd. CH. An elderly mother (83) and adult son (69) living in a small home. Our roofing contractor repaired a leak in the roof.  Cost $1700.
  1. January 28, 2023, Lincoln Rd. CH. A single lady (64) living alone in the home she grew up in.  Our FWC volunteers replaced four windows (the homeowner paid for the windows and FWC paid for some trim).  Cost $50.
  1. January 24, 2023, Campostella Rd. (MH) Husband (69) and wife (67) living in an old mobile home. He has had heart surgery and is on dialysis and oxygen.  Our plumber repaired a broken water pipe.  Cost $1111.
  1. January 30, 2023, Martin Ave.   Elderly mother (78) and adult son (52) living in an older home.  Our plumber cleaned the sewer line. Cost $350.
  1. January 31, 2023, Terry Dr. CH   Grandmother (70), 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren living in an older home.  Our FWC volunteers built a handicap ramp to help the grandmother get in and out of the home.  Cost $691.
  1. On January 31, 2023, Derby Run, VB. (MH) A former client, a 70 year old disabled gentleman living in a cluttered house trailer, requested assistance with a condemnation from the City, Holes in the floor, roof  leaks, non-working W.C. Our plumber was able to clear the W.C. by running a snake through it. Volunteers covered the holes in the floor, patched the roof, replaced the door lock and replaced the W.C,  Cost: $340
  1. February 2, 2023, Baez Court, VB.Recently widowed 60 year old requested assistance with a citation from the City of Virginia Beach for the condition of exterior of her house. Our contractor replaced missing siding, repaired the front porch and installed a chimney cap. Cost $1800.
  1. February 8, 2023, Whitehaven Crescent, CH. An elderly lady (87) living alone in a nice home. FWC volunteers installed a new crawl space access because of difficulty using the existing one, and checked the crawl space for problems.  They found a couple of HVAC ducts that were up against the floor and during the summer with the AC on the duct would sweat and cause problems with the floor.  The homeowner agreed that nothing else needed to be done. Cost $200.
  1. February 8, 2023, Ocean Bay Drive, VB. A second-story exterior leak caused significant flooring and ceiling damage in an elderly woman’s home.  Volunteers repaired the leak and the damaged ceiling joists. They also replaced the damaged flooring in the bedroom and below kitchen.  Cost: $570
  1. February 14, 2023, Fernwood Farm Rd. An elderly lady (86) living alone in a nice home.  Our plumber repaired the faucet for the tub/shower and adjusted the toilet flange so the toilet can be bolted down.  Cost $565.
  1. February 14, 2023, Harbour Drive North, A single man (59) living alone in an older town home.  FWC volunteers installed grab bar in the tub/shower and our plumber installed a new faucet in the tub/shower. Cost $649.
  1. February 13, 2023, Tuttle Creek Court, VB.An elderly lady living alone requested assistance for an inoperative HVAC system.  Our HVAC contractor reconnected several air duct joints that had partially separated and adjusted the unit’s response to restore the system.  Cost: $80.
  1. February 18, 2023, Killington Arch. CH .  A single lady (66) living alone in a nice town home.  FWC volunteers replaced several windows and repaired the patio door frame where it was rotting. Cost $1384.
  1. March 9, 2023, Trumbull Court, VB.A 60 year old disabled lady who is the full time caregiver for her nephew’s two young children had an broken/unsafe garage door, stuck partway open. Our contractor removed the broken door. Volunteers closed in the garage door opening with a wall and an exterior door. Cost: $705
  1. March 10, 2023, Lantana Place, VB.Homeowner is 57, disabled, living by herself on her SS disability payments. She was cited by the city for rotted soffit, fascia and wood around the windows and needed siding repairs. Our contractor made the necessary repairs. Cost $2400.
  1. March 11, 2023, Woodshire Cir.., CH. MH Single lady (68) living alone in a mobile home.  FWC volunteers installed new subfloor and vinyl in several rooms where the existing subfloor was damaged. Cost $1043.
  1. March 12, 2023, Beautiful Street, VB.A former client, living in a Habitat house, needed a new roof, which our roofing contractor installed. FWC paid half the cost and the homeowner had a friend who paid her half. FWC cost $3990.
  1. March 13, 2023, Princess Anne Road, VB  An elderly lady living alone requested assistance a failing well pump that supplies drinking water to her home.  Volunteers replaced the pump and expansion tank restoring the system to service.  They also installed grab bars in the bath to improve safe access to the tub.  Cost: $520
  1. March 15, 2023, Cobblewood Arch., CH. Single lady (65), sister (69), and four other relatives.  FWC volunteers installed a railing by a short ramp.  Cost $33.
  1. March 16, 2023, Mossgate Ct., CH. Husband (78) and wife (80) living in a nice home.  FWC volunteers replaced some rotted fascia. Cost $39.
  1. March 17, 2023, Atlantic Ave., CH. Mother (74) and disabled daughter (49) living in an older home.  FWC volunteers replaced the rotted fascia in the front of the home.  Cost $206.
  1. March 17, 2023, Rudder Road, VB. People In Need (PIN) requested new flooring and replacement vanity for a property PIN manages for transitional housing for income constrained people. Volunteers installed vinyl flooring, repurposed vanity, repaired drywall seams and installed an oak threshold strip in the kitchen. Cost $0 (materials paid for by PIN).
  1. March 18, 2023, Wickford Dr., CH. Single lady (77) living alone in a nice town home.  Our roofing contractor repaired the roof where it was leaking. Cost $500.
  1. March 20, 2023, Scarborough Way, VB. An elderly lady living alone requested assistance with her inoperative range.  Volunteers replaced the range with a donated unit.  Cost: $0
  1. March 20, 2023, Drew Drive, VB. A retired army veteran suffering from dementia and his wife requested assistance with their leaking sunroom roof.  Volunteers identified and sealed the source of the water leak. Cost: $25
  1. March 22, 2023, Westwind Place, VB. A single lady requested assistance with some drywall repairs within her home.  Volunteers were able to complete the repairs, making the home safe for her grandchildren to visit.  Cost: $25 (Savage, $31,000,1, 2)
  1. March 25, 2023, Military Hwy, CH. (MH) A single lady (66), who has cancer, living alone in a travel trailer.  FWC volunteers built a permanent porch and steps by the front door. Cost $339.
  1. March 23, 2023, Cricket Hollow Lane, CH. A disabled lady (69) living alone in a nice town home.  There was a water leak in an upstairs bathroom, a contractor was hired, he demolished the room including a large hole in the ceiling sheetrock downstairs.  Our FWC volunteer team from New Creation UMC provided some funds and labor to put the room back together.  Her brother hired a plumber to rebuild the plumbing.  Cost $0.
  1. March 23, 2023, Whitestone Ave., CH. Elderly lady (89) living alone in a nice home.  A FWC volunteer re-supported a gutter; replaced a crawl space vent; and replaced some broken vinyl siding. Cost $98.
  1. March 25, 2023, Military Hwy, CH. (MH) A elderly man (84), with dementia, living alone in a mobile trailer.  FWC volunteers repaired some of the trailer skirting.  Cost $99.
  1. March 31, 2023, Hancock Dr., CH. A retired lady (68) living alone, walks with a cane and has trouble getting around. A FWC volunteer replaced the HVAC filter; turned the hot water tank down (it was set at 150); cleaned out the dryer vent. Cost $33.
  1. March 31, 2023, Minden Road, VB. A retired navy veteran suffering from dementia and his wife requested assistance with their leaking roof.  Volunteers installed a new roof provided the couple with a residence that can now withstand the elements.  Cost: $2390
  1. April 3, 2023, Fernwood Farm Rd., CH. An Elderly lady (87) living in a nice home. Our roofer repaired three spots on the roof that were leaking.  Cost $1600.
  1. April 3, 2023, Woodshire Cir., CH. MH A single lady (68) living alone in a mobile home.  A FWC volunteer repaired the bathroom floor.  Cost $0.
  1. April 10, 2023, Lantana Place, VB. Homeowner is 57, disabled, living by herself on her SS disability payments. Cabinets and countertop were removed for remodeling and then contractor disappeared. Volunteers rebuilt her kitchen using cabinets from Westminster-Canterbury. Cost: $635
  1. April 14, 2023, Mossgate Ct., CH. An elderly lady (82) living alone in a nice home. Our HVAC contractor lit the pilot light on the water heater and reset the temperature. Cost $100.
  1. April 14, 2023, Old Galberry Rd., CH. A single disabled, lady (54) living alone in a small, nice home. Our HVAC contractor repaired the HVAC system. Cost $140.
  1. April 15, 2023, Glendale Ave., CH. A legally blind lady (63) and grandson (16) living in an older home.  Our FWC volunteers repaired the bathroom sinks and toilet and installed laminate flooring in the bedroom (her daughter purchased the flooring). Cost $163.
  1. April 18, 2023, Broad St., CH. An elderly lady (83) living alone in an older home.  Our electrician installed a new electrical meter and 200-amp panel. Cost $2278.
  1. April 19, 2023,  Onocee Ave.  VB (MH)  A disabled husband and father of three requested assistance with their HVAC system’s inability to maintain temperature on hot, sunny days.  Sufficient Cool Seal was supplied to the family to coat the roof of the residence with a surface that will reflect vice absorb the sun’s energy. Cost: $200.
  1. April 19, 2023, Iron Liege Run, VB,  MH.Volunteers repaired a soft area in the hallway of the mobile home of a 69 year old single woman, a previous client, using available materials. We also provided her with two grab rails for her tub which will be installed by a handyman friend. Cost: $47.
  1. April 21, 2023, Glendale Ave., CH. A legally blind lady (63) and grandson (16) living in an older home.  Our plumber repaired the bathroom drain so it won’t leak.  Cost $375.
  1. April 22, 2023, Alpine Dr., CH. Two sisters (66 and 62) living in a nice home.  One of the sisters is disabled.  Our FWC volunteers assembled an aluminum ramp. Cost $50.
  1. May 2, 2023, Revere Drive, VB. An 88 year old widow and retired teacher living by herself in a modest house asked for assistance with two problems, a shoot from her neighbors tree growing into her heat pump and her security light not working. Volunteers cut back the tree branches away from the heat pump and replaced the bulbs in the security light. Cost: 0.
  1. May 9, 2023, Martin Ave., CH. Elderly lady (77) and adult son (51) living in an older home.  Our FWC volunteers replaced four windows.  Cost $923.
  1. May 10, 2023, Old Galberry Rd., CH. Single lady (54) living alone in a small, nice home. Our HVAC tech replaced the fan motor and capacitor and the electrical connection block.  Cost $450.
  1. May 10, 2023, Pear Tree St., CH. (MH) Elderly lady (80) living alone in a mobile home.  Our electrician found and repaired several problems with the electrical outlets. Cost $670.
  1. May 11, 2023, River Breeze Cir., CH. Single lady (70) living alone in a nice home. Our FWC volunteers replaced a ceiling fan, added weatherization strips to the patio door, and changed the batteries on all the smoke detectors. Cost $107.
  1. May 13, 2023, Castle Ct., CH. Single lady (59) who is blind and living alone in a town home. A FWC volunteer replaced the flapper in the toilet. Cost $6.
  1. May 13, 2023, Jackie Dr., CH. Single lady (66) living alone in an older home. Our FWC volunteers replaced a window. Cost $277.
  1. May 14, 2023, Haviland Drive, VB. A 73 year old lady, recently widowed, living by herself on her Social Security, requested assistance with multiple roof leaks. Our contractor repaired the leaks. Volunteers will repair the damaged ceiling as phase 2 of this project. Cost: $1700.
  1. May 17, 2023, Virginia Beach Blvd, VB (MH). A disabled woman caring for her 102-year-old mom requested assistance with improving access to the bathtub and correcting a deteriorating floor in the home’s sole bath.  Volunteers repaired the flooring damage, replaced the damaged vanity and sink, and installed an access entry into the bathtub. Cost: $425
  1. May 20, 2023, Lantana Place, VB. A single, disabled, unemployed woman requested help replacing dry wall in living room. Volunteers replaced dry wall and taped joints. Homeowner also requested help painting living room (Phase 1) and laying vinyl flooring (Phase 2) to make the living room habitable. FWC partnered with Old Donation Episcopal Church and completed Phase 1 painting with youth volunteers. Phase 2 will be scheduled with youth volunteers in July. Cost $28 for drywall replacement.
  1. May 23, 2023, Sullivan Road, VB   A disabled gentleman sharing his home with his daughter and 6 grandchildren requested assistance for a sparking receptacle.  Volunteers replaced the faulty receptacle to eliminate the potential fire hazard.  Cost: $0
  1. May 27, 2023, Woodshire Cir., CH. (MH) Widow 56) and son (34) living in an old mobile home.  Our FWC volunteers repaired the living room floor. Cost $521.
  1. May 27, 2023, Drawbridge Dr., CH. Single lady (64) living with four teenage grandchildren in an older home.  A FWC volunteer repaired the toilet, patched a hole in the wall behind the toilet, and repaired a windowsill.  Cost $0.
  1. Jun 1, 2023, Westminster Lane, VB. A disabled woman living alone requested assistance with a leaking roof and a city citation for a dilapidated fence.  Volunteers repaired the roof damage, installed a new ceiling in the affected room below, replaced the damaged fencing, restored several electrical circuits, and replaced the homeowner’s failing refrigerator.  Cost: $105.
  1. June 3, 2023, Anne Ave., CH. Mother (53) and adult disabled son (34) living in an older home.  FWC volunteers built a handicap ramp to help the son get in and out of the home.  Cost $607.
  1. June 7, 2023, Havilland Drive, VB. A recently widowed lady lives here alone with a mortgage payment higher that her SS, has an obstruction in her main water line. Our Plumber removed the valve and connected the pipes. Cost $188. (Deborah Smith, $15,348)
  1. June 14, 2023, Harbour North Dr., CH. Single lady (88) living alone in an older town house.  The AC system was not working well.  Our HVAC tech added freon and stop leak to the AC system.  Cost $300.
  1. June 16, 2023, Commerce Ave., CH. Single lady (71) living alone in an older home. The refrigerator stopped working.  FWC volunteers replaced the refrigerator with one we had in storage. Cost $0.
  1. June 23, 2023, Haviland Drive, VB. Our roofing contractor repaired several leaks for this 73 year old, recently widowed lady, living by herself on her Social Security. Volunteers repaired the ceiling damage. While there we noted a dead electrical circuit. Our electrical contractor replaced a dead/partially burned wall socket. Cost: $225
  1. June 27, 2023, Weeping Willow Lane, VB.  A single disabled 70 year old lady living alone , could not enter her townhouse because of the 7” high stoop. Had complaint from Home Owners Assoc about broken fence and gate. Volunteers installed an 8’ long aluminum ramp with handrails from inventory., and repaired the rear fence and gate. Cost $20, homeowner will send a contribution to FWC.
  1. June 30, 2023, Killington Arch, CH. A single lady (66) living alone in a nice town home.  FWC volunteers replaced two windows and their sills, and a French door. Cost $1275.
  1. June 30, 2023, Oak Mears Cove, CH. Elderly disabled lady (86) and daughter (58), who is her mother’s care giver, living in a nice home.  FWC volunteers converted the tub to a step in; installed a shower transfer seat; installed two grab bars; and installed a shower head adjustment bar. Cost $240.
  1. July 08, 2023, Longdale Crescent, CH. An elderly lady (83) living alone in a nice home.  FWC volunteers repaired some soffit and set some traps in the attic to try and get rid of some mice.  Cost $95.
  1. July 10, 2023, Commons Court, VB. The home owner lives alone in a neatly kept townhouse and is legally blind.  Volunteers cleaned out the  sewer drain  that the 1st floor A/C condensate line drains into. We cleaned out the condensate drain pan and primed the trap. In addition we tightened the drain on the 2nd floor bathroom sink which was dripping. Cost $0.00
  1. July 12, 2023, Joplin Lane, VB. An elderly single lady requested assistance with her leaking roof.  Our contractor identified and repaired the leaking section.  Cost: $700
  1. July 12, 2023, Drew Drive, VB. A retired army veteran suffering from dementia and his wife requested assistance with their leaking sunroom roof.  Volunteers identified and sealed the suspected leak paths. Cost: $0
  1. July 13, 2023, Military Hwy, CH. (MH) A single lady lady (65) living alone in an older mobile home.  FWC volunteers sealed the roof which had need leaking. Cost $99.
  1. July 15, 2023, Harbour North Dr., CH. An elderly lady living alone in an older town house.  FWC volunteers rebuilt a handicap ramp; repaired the soffit on the front of the house; replaced the floor under the kitchen sink; and repaired a closet door. Cost $226.
  1. July 17, 2023, Whitley Park Drive, VB. A 68 year old lady living by herself while her husband is in rehab, asked for help with her non-functioning air conditioner and to repair damage her husband created. It was determined by Chris Mechanical the air conditioning portion of the HVAC unit was not repairable and an estimate of $9,600.00 was proposed for replacement. However, the gas furnace and blower are still operational so heat can still function.   Volunteers installed an window air conditioner in the master bedroom. Cost $271.00
  1. July 17, 2023, Elbyrne Dr., CH. A single lady (66) and four grandchildren living in an older home.  A FWC volunteer installed new security locks on the front and back doors and a security light by the front door.  These items were purchased by the homeowner.  Cost $0.
  1. July 21, 2023, Indian Creek Rd., CH. (MH) A single lady (65) living alone in an old mobile home.  FWC volunteer replaced the tub with a shower pan, replaced the shower faucet, installed PVC Wall Board on the walls, and had our plumber install the drain line.  Cost $2022.
  1. July 25, 2023, April Ave, VB.An 82 year old, disabled woman, living in a townhome/condo requested assistance with several deferred maintenance items. Volunteers rebuilt leaking toilet, replaced faulty light switch and stabilized stair railings. Cost: $56
  1. July 25, 2023, Williamson St., CH. A single lady (79) living alone in a nice home.  A FWC volunteer repaired the seal around a roof vent where it was leaking; adjusted the gutter where it was leaking; and built a new crawl space door.  Cost $0.
  1. July 26, 2023, Dunbarton Dr., CH. Husband (85) and wife (86) living in a nice home.  A FWC volunteer replaced the crawl space doors. Cost $211.
  1. July 27, 2023, Pringle Dr., CH. A single lady (42) living in a small, older home.  FWC volunteers repaired/replaced the soffit and fascia, and replaced the brick molding around a rear door.  Cost $50.
  1. August 5, 2023, Ivy Crescent., CH. A single man (59) living alone in a nice home.  He just had a foot amputated due to poor circulation.  His mother just died and was buried July 10th.  FWC volunteers built a handicap ramp with aluminum walkway and railings and a wooden frame. Cost $229.
  1. August 2, 2023, Glendale Ave., CH. A legally blind lady (63) and grandson (16) living in an older home.  Our HVAC tech cleaned out the HVAC drain pan so it would not overflow. Cost $100.
  1. August 2, 2023, Engle Ave., CH. A single lady (65) living alone in an older home.  Our HVAC tech repaired the HVAC system so it would cool. Cost $750.
  1. Aug 3, 2023, Westwind Place, VB. A single lady requested assistance with a leaking shower faucet and drain, an inoperative HVAC system, and a broken countertop.  Contractors repaired the shower leaks and restored the HVAC system to service while volunteers repaired the countertop to fully support the sink and to stop water from leaking into the sink cabinet.  Cost: $1350
  1. August 7, 2023, Commons Court, VB. A single 66 year old  legally blind lady in her well-kept townhouse reported a leak in the condensate drain and Air conditioning not working properly.  Volunteers cleared the obstruction in the drain and had a Mechanical contractor perform service to clean the A/C condenser.  Cost $200.
  1. August 7, 2023, Lamp Post Ct., CH. A father (70), wife 971), and son (45) living in a nice home.  A FWC volunteer replaced both garage door springs, one was broken, and adjusted the door.  Cost $132.
  1. August 8, 2023, Deep Creek Blvd., CH. MH A mother (80) and daughter (50) living in an older mobile home.  Our plumber repaired a broken water pipe so they could get water in the home. Cost $345.
  1. August 8, 2023, Atlantic Ave., CH. A mother (67) and daughter (43) living in an older home.  A FWC repaired the leaking toilets and our plumber repaired two tub faucets that were leaking.  Cost $740.
  1. August 8, 2023, Martin Ave., CH. A mother (78) and son (52) living in an older home.  Our plumber repaired a tub faucet that was leaking, and the kitchen sink drain that was leaking behind the wall. Cost $960.
  1. August 12, 2023, Sampson Lane, VB. An elderly single lady requested assistance with her front railing.  She had contracted an individual to replace the railing, but he absconded with the her money without performing the work.   Volunteers replaced the railing providing safe access to the home.  Cost: $205
  1. August 14,2023,  Walkers Grant Lane. VB.Previous client, a single lady on limited income living in a small well-kept townhouse, requested assistance with her HVAC system. Our contractor repaired the system using an R12-R412 retrofit kit. Cost $2157.
  1. August 17, 2023, Salem Rd. VB. Loving and Caring Ministries is a small 501(3)c organization that has provided transitional housing for homeless women and children for the past 25 years. They acquired a shipping container, are outfitting it as an apartment for a small family and requested FWC assistance with the kitchen cabinets. Our volunteers installed donated kitchen cabinets, cut out the countertop for the sink to fit,  built shelves and assembled the bunk bed. One of our volunteers arranged for a dumpster to be donated.  Cost of $206.42 was donated by First Presbyterian Church.
  1. August 25, 2023, Saddlebrook Ct, VB.Elderly widow with medical problems living in a small well-kept town house reported that her HVAC system was making unusual noises. Our contractor did a service call and assured the H/O that the system was operating normally.. Cost: $80.
  1. August 29, 2023, Campostells Rd., CH. (MH) A mother (59) and son (23), both disabled, living in an older mobile home.Our electrician corrected some problems with electrical circuits, including some outlets and switches.  Cost $719.
  1. August 30, 2023, Gauntlet Ct., CH. A widow (75) and adult disabled son (46), living in an older home.  Our plumber replaced the water heater which was not working. Cost $1275.
  1. August 31, 2023, Edinburg Ave., CH. A retired man (76) living alone in an older family home.  Our roofer repaired the flat roof in the back of the home which was leaking. Cost $650.
  1. August 31, 2023, Sunrise Ave., CH. A husband (53) and wife (64) and four grandchildren from 8-18 living in an older town house.  Our roofer repaired the flashing on the firewall which was leaking.  Cost $650.
  1. September 4, 2023, Cypress Pl., CH. Single lady (60) living alone in a nice home.  Our FWC volunteers replaced four windows in the home.  Cost $1183.

  1. September 12, 2023, George Washington Hwy. So., CH. A widow living alone in a travel trailer.  FWC volunteers built steps to help her get in and out of the trailer. Cost $33.
  1. September 13, 2023, Glendale Ave., CH. A legally blind lady (63) and grandson (16) living in an older home.  Our HVAC tech cleaned the outside coils that were packed with dirt; our plumber repaired a hose bib that wouldn’t shut off. Cost $270.
  1. September 13, 2023, Coinbrook Ln., CH. A single lady (68) living alone in a nice home.  Our HVAC tech repaired a burnt wire, replaced a capacitor, and added freon to the system. Cost $700.
  1. September 14, 2023, Lumberjack Drive, VB.  Elderly widow living with disabled daughter and grandson reported a defective power outlet and circuit.   FWC Volunteers replaced the outlet and returned power to the circuit.  Cost: $6.
  1. September 20, 2023, Sydenham Blvd., CH. Husband (79) and wife (68) living in a nice home.  The husband is a Vietnam vet and is disabled needing a handicap ramp.    FWC volunteers built the ramp and the fire Dept. paid for the materials.  Cost $0.
  1. September 22, 2023, Commonwealth Ave., CH. Single lady (75) and brother-in-law (63) living in a nice home.  The brother-in-law uses a walker to get around and needs handrails by the front steps and into the garage.  FWC volunteers built the handrails using lamber we had.  Cost $0.
  1. September 23, 2023, Battlefield Blvd., CH. A widow (70) living alone in a nice home.  FWC volunteers repaired two storm doors; replaced a window; repaired two dining room chairs; and our plumber replaced the bathroom sink faucet. Cost $607.
  1. September 25, 2023, Lantana Place, VB.A single, disabled, unemployed woman requested help rebuilding her living room. Volunteers from Faith Works and Old Donation Episcopal Church laid vinyl flooring (flooring provided by H/O) to make the living room habitable and painted her kitchen. Cost $142.
  1. September 28, 2023, Westminster Lane, VB. A disabled woman living alone requested assistance with a broken window and a city citation for decaying fascia and failing gutters.  Volunteers replaced the window and repaired the damaged fascia boards and gutters.  Cost: $270
  1. October 1, 2023, Sunnyside Drive, VB.89 year old lady in a well kept-up single family home requested assistance with her insurance company request for a roof inspection/repair. Our roofing contractor made minor repairs and provided the H/O with a roof certification letter. The H/O paid the contractor.
  1. October 2, 2023, Longdale Crescent., CH. An elderly widow (83) living alone in a nice home.  A FWC volunteer repaired two toilets that were leaking.  Cost $0.
  1. October 3, 2023, Fernwood Farms Rd., CH. An elderly lady (70) living alone in a nice home.  FWC volunteers replaced the front storm door and repaired the wood around it; built a handrail by the back door; repaired the bathroom floor; replaced a bedroom light switch; replace the floor under the kitchen sink; and repaired a hole in the sheetrock. Cost $180.
  1. October 9, 2023, George Washington Hwy., CH. A single lady (45), three daughters 15, 16, and 19, living in an older home.  The 16-year-old has a weight problem and trouble with her legs.  She has had an operation to help correct the problem with her legs.  FWC volunteers installed an aluminum ramp to help her get in and out of the home. Cost $0.
  1. October 9, 2023, Lincoln Rd., CH. A single lady (64) living alone in the home she grew up in.  A FWC volunteer installed the tall toilet the homeowner purchased.  Cost $24.
  1. October 12, 2023, Elbyrne Dr., CH. A single lady (66) and four grandchildren living in an older home.  Our plumber repaired the toilet that was leaking at the floor and rebuilt the parts in the tank.  Cost $550.
  1. October 17, 2023, Sunrise Ave., CH. A husband (53) and wife (64) and four grandchildren from 8-18 living in an older town house.  FWC volunteers replaced the French door, front storm door handle and closer.  Cost $716.
  1. On October 16, 2023, North Witchduck Road, VB. A  77 year old widow with modest income, living alone with her 6 year old granddaughter had no heat, It was determined that the heat pump was not functional.  Volunteers replaced the thermostat  and set the existing unit to operate on emergency heat.  Heating was restored.  Cost $70.
  1. October 19, 2023, Ike St., CH. MH A single lady (78) living alone in an older mobile home.  FWC volunteers repaired a bedroom floor and a part of the kitchen floor. Cost $241.
  1. October 23, 2023, Rainbow Court, VB. A retired navy veteran living alone requested assistance with several plumbing leaks and electrical issues.  Volunteers repaired the leaks and corrected the electrical items to restore her residence to a warm, safe, and dry condition.  Cost: $120.
  1. October 26, 2023, Whitestone Ave., CH. A widow (74) who is a double amputee, living alone in a small home. A FWC volunteer replaced three bedroom doors that were coming apart.  Cost $248.
  1. October 31, 2023, Armentrout Ct., CH. A single lady (58) living in a nice home. She uses a walker to get around.  A FWC volunteer replaced the water heater which was leaking and not heating. Cost $490.
  1. November 1, 2023, Drawbridge Dr., CH. A single lady (64) and four grandchildren living in an older home. Our HVAC added 3 lbs. R-22 freon to the system. Cost $220.
  1. November 1, 2023, Glendale Ave., CH. A legally blind single lady (64) and grandson (17) living in an older home. Our HVAC tech replaced the fan motor and a capacitor.  Cost $350.
  1. November 1, 2023, Salem Road, VB. Loving and Caring Ministries. FWC provided donated kitchen cabinets for installation in a trailer being renovated to house a homeless family. No Cost.
  1. November 3, 2023, Sylvan Lane, VB,  A disabled man with modest income  and behind on his mortgage, requested help solving complaints from his civic league missing aluminum trim and rotten gable louver. Our siding contractor  completed the repairs. Cost $800.00
  1. November 13, 2023, Lumberjack Drive, VB.A 59 year old disabled lady, living by herself in a small single family house on her Social Security/Disability income, requested assistance with an HVAC system that was not heating her home. Our HVAC contractor repaired the system. Cost: $453.
  1. November 16, 2023, Ewell Lane, CH. A single lady (55) living alone in a small home. Our plumber repaired a water leak in the crawl space. Cost $235.
  1. November 16, 2023, Military Hwy., CH. (MH) A single lady (65) living alone in a old mobile home.  Our plumber repaired a leaking pipe and pumped water out from under the trailer. Cost $520.
  1. November 17, 2023, Princess Anne Road, VB  An elderly lady living alone requested assistance with an inoperative heating system and a leak under the bathroom sink.  Our HVAC contractor identified and replaced the faulty components within the heating system while volunteers replaced the corroded sink faucet. Cost: $505 .
  1. November 17, 2023, (MH) Detroiter  Dr. VB, An elderly repeat customer, (#4) and her disabled husband  with limited income requested assistance with the rotten wall of an addition to their trailer due to leaking improperly installed windows.  Volunteers removed the windows and repaired the wall with new framing, sheathing, siding and re-installed the widows with flashing and trim. Cost $356.
  1. November 18, 2023, Lumberjack Dr. VB. Volunteer repaired a toilet for a repeat client. Cost $8.00
  1. November 21, 2023, Fernwood Farms Rd., CH. An elderly lady (70) living alone in a nice home. FWC volunteers repaired the kitchen floor.  The homeowner paid for the new vinyl.  Cost $86.
  1. November 25, 2023, Brighton St., PO. A single man (70) and adult son living in a small home. The homeowner had a stroke and needs a ramp.  FWC volunteers installed a handicap ramp.  Cost $0.
  1. November 27, 2023, Parking lot, CH A couple, Kelly (34) and Aaron (38), living in a small bus. A FWC volunteer built a shelf to help them organize the things in their living space.  Cost $0.
  1. November 28, 2023, 2901 Elbyrne Dr., CH. A single lady (66) and four grandchildren living in an older home. Our plumber found why and corrected the toilet overflowing. Cost $125.
  1. November 28, 2023, 2901 Elbyrne Dr., CH. A single lady (66) and four grandchildren living in an older home. Our electrician reconnected the HVAC to the electrical system and rewired two outlets. Cost $280.
  1. November 28, 2023, Saville Garden Way, VB. A 76 year old retired cardiac care nurse with multiple medical problems, living by herself in a well maintained townhome, requested we make her bathtub handicap accessible. Volunteers installed two grab rails, a pull down shower head and a cut-out in the tub wall. Minor electrical repairs were also made. Cost: $200.
  1. December 5, 2023, Bethel Rd., CH. A couple, Debra (69) and Mark (70), living in a rehabbed home.  The contractor was paid for additional work but disappeared with the money before doing it.  FWC volunteers installed roofing, siding, a door and two windows in an outbuilding. Cost $1363.
  1. December 6, 2023, Tuttle Creek Court, VB  An elderly lady, living alone, requested assistance in determining if discoloration of a section of her ceiling was caused by a roof leak.  Volunteers investigated the situation and concluded that during a driving rainstorm, water could possibly be blown under the side edge of the roof.  Volunteers sealed the suspected edge to eliminate the potential water path.  Cost: $5
  1. December 6, 2023, Sierra Drive, VB  An elderly lady, living alone, requested assistance with a drafty front door.  Volunteers adjusted the weather stripping to eliminate the entry of cold air.  Cost: $10
  1. December 21, 2023: .3, (MH) Detroiter  Dr. VB, An elderly repeat customer, (#4) and her disabled husband  with limited income requested assistance with the rotten wall of an addition to their trailer due to leaking improperly installed windows.  Volunteers completed the interior repairs, installing insulation , hanging and finishing drywall and wood trim. Cost $3.
  1. December 26, 2023 Saddlebred Dr. VB. An elderly gentlemen  living with his disabled wife ( in wheelchair) , two special needs adult sons and his disabled brother in law requested a ramp at the 5” high  front door stoop of their single family home. Volunteers installed the ramp today.   Cost $100.
