Disaster Relief Team Visits Brooklyn, NY

brooklyntrip2 brooklyntrip1Seven volunteers from Faith Works Coalition traveled to Brooklyn, New York in April 2015 to again offer assistance to the rebuilding effort in the area damaged by Hurricane Sandy. They partnered with All-Hands Volunteers who coordinated and supervised the work-sites. FWC volunteers worked on four different houses during their week in New York. All of the houses had been flooded by a huge storm surge. Damage was so extensive that it required demolishing the rooms to the wall studs. Demolition and clean-up had been completed by previous volunteers and Faith Works assisted in the reconstruction. They framed, hung and finished drywall on ceilings and walls, hung doors, and painted the basement apartments. Their efforts helped bring the families much closer to a return to normal living condition in their homes.
